Last week we delivered a bid training seminar for London Chamber of Commerce and one-to-one bid training sessions for a major construction company.
The group training session for London Chamber of Commerce was for attendees from a variety of industries and with a range of bidding experience. The session covered topics including: competitive positioning and defining win themes, how SMEs can win against major companies, bid management and writing, and bidding as a joint venture. The session received extremely positive feedback and we hope to support some of the attendees with future bids.
The one-to-one bid training sessions were to support the career development of a bid writer in a international construction company. We spent a considerable amount of time discussing the importance of developing win themes which truly differentiate a bidder from the competitors, and then gave examples of using these techniques on previous winning bids (whilst protecting client confidentiality). We then examined storyboard planning and development, and the methods which can be used to ensure responses are developed ‘right first time’. Following this, we discussed response writing, including the considerable project management activities required to ensure that correct information is gathered in a timely manner. At the end of the session the attendee described the training as ‘excellent’ and said they felt empowered to immediately use the techniques on their current assignments.
We would like to thank these clients for inviting us to deliver training and we look forward to working with them again in the future.
